The Blounge Salon

I gave good old hair a revamp last few weeks ago. I cut my hair quite short every time I go to the salon (remember both David's and Fab Salon trips?), but this time, I asked The Blounge stylist, Ron, to keep my hair near shoulder's length.

Rivalry: Ateneo-La Salle The Musical

on

Have you ever watched an Ateneo vs DLSU UAAP basketball match, whether on TV or live, where you got hugely disappointed because it lacked the indispensible court riot and mineral water bottle shower? I know I did way back highschool. Yes, I was a very childish teen to yearn for some mean basketball action whenever Ateneo's up against their top rivals, La Salle.

Whuznew in Whitening: Bamboo Charcoal and Acerola White for Camaru Naturals

on , ,

I got this in the mail and it didn't take a lot of effort for these three to intrigue me. How can something as black as charcoal promote whitening? And what-the-H is Acerola? Camaru Naturals sent me their best sellers, Bamboo Charcoal and Acerola White C face and body soaps. Since anything whitening can degrade the skin's moisture, Camaru guys threw in an intriguing bottle of Camellia Rose moisturizer.

I am honored to try these products out (they're proudly Pinoy!). I usually give soaps a good 3-4weeks trial time before the verdict, but if these two deliver fast, I may have to fill you in quite sooner.

Check out their benefits:

When People Think You're Unworthy To Blog About Beauty

on

Two days ago, I was saddened to know that good old Liz of Project Vanity read a message on Twitter saying that she, Nikki, Shen and Sophie are not pretty enough to do beauty blogging.

My jaw just dropped. Paano nalang ako, haha! I've met these four physically and they are most beautiful!

But Liz wrote a very beautiful post that addressed the matter. I was so surprised when I read a paragraph that translated my thoughts exactly:
I replied to her and said that the point of beauty blogging is to demonstrate how average women can look better than they already do. It's about baring all our flaws, in detail, and then showing how they can be corrected with the right products and techniques. It's much less glamorous than what fashion, food, or even tech bloggers do - they take pictures of beautiful things and show them in their best light while we, the beauty bloggers, show our pores and pimples.
There were several times when I wanted to give up beauty blogging because I knew I wasn't a pretty face. However, whenever I think about how greatly improved my skin gets from my trips to the dermatologist and the products that help me climb a step higher to looking better, I get inspired. I get inspired to write and tell you that nobody is ugly; that everyone is beautiful and it's just a matter of finding the right products that can improve us without going under the knife.

I do not abhor the fact that people may think this way. I respect the fact that there will be those who will not be pleased.

My concern goes out to the beauty bloggers who may be devastated by these people. I just hope that these views will not stop you from writing and helping others. Pretty much like me. Kapalan nalang natin because there are more people who can benefit from what we discover than those who cringe at the sight of our pimply, unpretty faces.

The Impeachment Cake Of JPE | Enrile's 88th Birthday

I find Juan Ponce Enrile's birthday cake so cute! The presiding officer for Chief Justice Corona's impeachment trial turns 88 today. Yep, he's a V-Day baby.

I don't know who in particular designed that heartbreaking-to-cut-and-eat replica of the impeachment court, but it is said that this treat was given by Solar News to the celebrating Senator.

Kanebo's Private Beauty Affair

Kanebo's Freshel Cleansing Oil is the sole product I've ever tried from the brand. I'd love to check out their foundations and liners and their VIP Private Beauty Affair happening on the 16th is the perfect time to do it.  The invite is just too heartbreaking to pass up on.

Please refer to Studio SNR's blog for deets on how to score passes for the event. If you are going, please comment back on this post that you are :) I'd love to meet you!

Bare Minerals Flawless Definiton Mascara Review

You can refer to my San san mascara review and tell that I have short eye lashes and that I can definitely find a good use for lengthening mascaras. Bare Minerals' Flawless Definition Mascara not only lengthens my lashes in a natural way, it is able to separate and coat my lashes sans the notorious clumping!

The photo above uses one layer of the mascara (black). Quite perfect for an everyday look, don't you think?

Fangirl Mode In A Tech-Savvy Salon

The Blounge is one of the metro's, if not the only, tech-savvy salon. Thanks to their high-speed internet and Ipads, getting pampered while surfing the net for free is no longer a problem!

During my second visit to the salon, I had my hair cut! I loved the result and what made me gush all the more was that one of our local celebs was also there getting her hair styled from curly to straight! Photo-op with model and celebrity talk show host, Phoem Barranda.... eeee, haha.

She was just so sweet to pose with me in the middle of her hair styling, foot spa and eye makeup (which she was doing herself by the way and was using UD's Naked palette). I didn't have time to wait up because I had another appointment and I was so surprised she cheerfully excused herself to accommodate my request for a photo-op. Baet. I can't stop telling my friends and family how down-to-earth she was.

My Kind Of Tea!

on

Now C2 just had to come up with this. I love that their new Cool and Clean Milky Tea costs only a fraction of the more popular milk tea brands and tastes decent enough for its price (tastes like real Thai Milk Tea).

I will definitely be drinking more! At 11php per 230mL bottle (which is around 3-4 chugs if you're darn excited bout a cheap milk tea in this 90++-pesos-per-cup-of-milk-tea era), my money is undeniably well-spent.

Won't be surprised if the other tea-in-a-plastic-bottle brands follow suit. Has anyone of you tasted this Milky Tea by C2?

Understanding Bangkok's Train System | Travel Guide

There are four rapid transit lines for public transport in Bangkok: the 2 BTS (skytrain) lines, 1 MRT (subway) line, and 1 airport rail link.

The Airport Link
The Suvarnabhumi Airport Rail Link is comprised of the Express Line and the City/Commuter Line. I'm using a scanned map I got from the airport and tweaked the Express line (red) by extending it way up to Phya Thai station (the original map had the red line up to Makkasan).

Le Route:
Express Line (red)Suvarnabhumi Airport - Makkasan (interchanges with Phetchaburi Station, MRT) - Phya Thai (interchanges with Phya Thai Station, BTS)
Commuter Line (blue): Suvarnabhumi Airport - Lad Krabang - Thub Chang - Hua Mark - Ramkhamhaeng - Makkasan (interchanges with Phetchaburi Station, MRT) - Ratchaprarop - Phayathai (interchanges with Phya Thai Station, BTS)

Can the Neutrogena Fine Fairness BB Cream Make Me Not Wear Makeup On A Date? + Giveaway

on ,

During the Neutrogena Fine Fairness event, I've accepted the challenge to go bare-faced on a date. If I had good skin, I wouldn't fuss about this simple task. But since I'm once again growing a freaking grapevine on an awesome facial garden called my chin, I'm really anxious that the BB Cream might not deliver!

The BB Cream's Promise
In the course of six weeks, the BB Cream must be able to improve my skin. It promises to: (1) give me a lasting, healthy glow, (2) erradicate blemishes, (3) even out my complexion, and (4) improve my skin's fairness.

I spent one Friday afternoon with six other beauty and lifestyle bloggers at Chef Jessie's, Rockwell Club. The event was hosted by Neutrogena and it was for the launch of their newest addition to the well-loved Fine Fairness line, the Fine Fairness BB Cream.

thanks Julia for the photo!

Chef Jessie is a very well-kept place. Loved the food and the fact that the ground floor dining area was beside the lush greens and the perfectly blue pool. The last time I ate here was around 3-4 years ago. Back then it was called LeSouffle.
