Estee Lauder Double Wear Liquid Foundation Swatches On NC25

Here are the swatches of Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation in Sand (2W1), Tawny (3W1) and Ivory Cream (1N2). I'm NC25 with MAC Studio Fix Fluid (although I use NC20 since MAC SFF oxidizes on my skin significantly) and these swatches were taken where natural light generously passes through. I forgot if I took these picture with flash though.

Estee Lauder Double Wear on NC25: Tawny, Sand, and Ivory Cream

The three shades against a white canvas to emphasize the undertone category they belong to. Observe the lack of yellow in Ivory Cream, hence a neutral shade, while sand and tawny exhibiting a tinge of yellow as warm shades (tawny is a few shades near looking orange though). Sand is honestly a very pretty shade for those with fair Asian skin.

None of these three gives me a perfect shade match. If only sand wasn't too light (tawny appears too orange on my skin after a few hours), it would've been a good match. I'm eager to try their neutrals too, Desert Beige (2N1) and Ivory Beige (3N1). It's so sad that these Double Wear shades are not, and perhaps will never be, available in Philippine Estee Lauder counters.

  2. Yes, soon! :) Ang hirap kasi sa local counters natin, not all shades are available.

Uy, glad you liked it as a makeup base. That's how I use it myself. :D

    I'll see you soonissshhh!

  3. If not for the fact that Estee Lauder tends to break me out, I'd try "Sand" in a heartbeat b/c I'm all about the yellow shades...hehe. ;)

    Have a lovely weekend!

  4. you cant clearly say yellow tone for yellow tones and pink is for pink undertones. There are MANY exceptions. People dont pick it out that way. There are even people who get into arguments at makeup counters because they are a cool and someone insisted they were a warm.
Alot of times darker toned women like African American/carribean women have to mix more than one foundation ,everyone on earth is different
After years of being a makeup artist. The rule stands true. There are no rules to makeup, only rules of thumb. Nothing called "too anything".I disagree with telling anyone how to wear their foundation/blush/powder/eyeliner/eyeshadow. Makeup is subjective. Everyone has their own makeup style. Many light people tend to go light/lighter or mix it with a luminzer to make themselves brighter/radiant/porcelin like. A great example of this would be dita von teese, who even stays out the sun to maintain her light skintone and wears light foundation. Others prefer to be dark/darker and darken in the sun or use bronzer all over their skintone. Different people have different preferences. If I spelled "Horse" "Howrse" than there is no "ifs" "and" or "buts" because grammar isnt subjective. What is wrong is wrong! However. Makeup is subjective. I hate nude lips. Does that mean its right to say "dont wear nude lips" ? No.
I might not like it but someone else might. There is no rule to makeup. Thats the beauty of being a makeup artist. There are soo many different styles.
I hate bronzer. But maybe there is someone who loves that deep bronzed look. I cant go to them and say "dont go soo deep in the bronzer" and say its "constructive". There are soo many different styles.who is anyone to tell someone theyre wearing a too light or too dark foundation, because there is no such thing. Nicole and Sam from pixiwoo(huge makeupartists in Britain) sometimes wear paler or darker foundation and it looks gorgeous! as long as people blend it to the neck its fine....some people prefer to look bright and radiant.

  5. I have the same problem with eldw. I really love this foundation because of it's long wear and great oil control. I'm nc25 and sand is light on me while tawny is dark! There is no in between. I checked their website and even had a live chat with one of their agents. She just suggested me to try ivory beige but we don't have that here.

I'll wait for your other reviews if you already found your match. I still don't want to give up on eldw.

  6. I was given Ivory Beige as a sample at one of our counters here in the Philippines. I think Sand is too light also for my NC30 skin, Tawny is a dark one but Ivory Beige also didn't work for me. It's lighter than tawny but more on a beige color. Still doesn't suit my yellowish skin. I also don't want to give up on my ELDW in Sand, I am thinking of ways to achieve the perfect shade using this as I don't want to waste one bottle.

  7. Try adding a bit of a sample of Shell Beige to your Sand. I am Italian and struggle to get the right colour too, being medium olive skinned. Tawny too orange for me, Shell Beige is the right type of colour but too dark - am trying to work out how to lighten it! Everything I try (Lancome, Channel, all drugstore brands) are too pink or orange. The closest I have come to a match is Boirjois healthy mix in No 53 or 54, and Sensai No.203 or 204, but they just slide off my combination skin. Guerlain is good but extremely expensive for a foundation which has also disappeared off my nose by lunch time. Sorry for long comment, but hope it helps someone.

  8. I want to add to my previous comment above about mixing colours. Today a make up artist mixed Sand and a bit of Henna together and got the perfect shade for me! It would just mean buying two foundations which is expensive. I am now seriously considering adding a drop of yellow food colouring to Tawny instead to see if I can make the same colour as the other two.
