Review: Skinfood Aloe Sun BB Cream

I'm back with reviewing and I'm pretty much back with loving bb creams!  I've reviewed Skin 79 Waterdrop vis-a-vis Dr. Jart Silver Label, and Elianto Multiplex.  Now, it's Skinfood Aloe BB Cream's turn!
Skinfood Aloe Sun BB Cream, #1

got Aloe among the other available variants (there's Gingko, Mushroom, Peach Sake and Agave, whew!) since it was: meant to control oil (Gingko is for dry skin), had good packaging that does not spill (Mushroom has a bad tube), comes in a 50g tub (Peach Sake costs as much but has only 30mL of product in the tube) and is relatively affordable (Agave is a bit overpriced and performs the same as Aloe, IMO).

Skinfood's aloe variant comes in two shades: #1 and #2.  Most beauty bloggers categorize shade #1 for those with yellow undertones, the latter for those with pink undertones.  I have no idea how they came up with that.  I've tried both shades and I couldn't really tell if #2 suited pink undertones since it kinda suited me (I have yellow/olive undertones) but it made me look tad darker.

Got it from: ebay's skinfood2you ($13, free shipping worldwide)
Transit time: 2 1/2 weeks
Best applied onto face with: fingertips

Skinfood Aloe BB cream blended well with my NC30ish skintone.  It can be scary white at first, but it blends pretty well with the skintone after ~5minutes (quite long, I must say).

Scary white at first glance

I think Skinfood Aloe might've fared better for oily gals like me when applied inside an airconditioned room.  I noticed that it controlled oil better that way.  Also, if you need coverage, this might not be the bb cream for you.  It has a sheer finish and can look ugly if you layer it on.

  1. Thanks for the info! I find that most BB creams are too light for me. But I'm always on the hunt for an excellent BB cream! :)

  2. Thanks for the thorough review, I have tried SKinFood sample BB cream from a friend and the brand just does not work on me, not sure about this Aloe Sun though, I think I tried the Mushroom one! :)

    it IS tough to bag that prized bb cream. best of luck! heard that missha has a bb cream for NC40ish skintones... was it #31... i totally forgot!

    @Nikki
    Aloe's an okay bb cream. You have to get your hands on Jart silver (Jart black is for dry skin... i think you're a clinique 2, right, so this might work better on you) OR missha's perfect cover bb.

    thanks for visiting!

  5. Hey sweetie! I hope this sees you well. =) You are so lucky that this works so beautifully on your skin. After trying several BB creams (this brand included), I've kinda given up on my search. Sad, right? =\ Tinted moisturizer seems to be a better fit for me. Oh well :P

  7. Aloe is so good for your skin! I like the name - Skinfood... that is the point. Food for your skin. Think about that - what might it do IN your body instead of on top. - not the cream of course, I mean the Aloe. Check it out http://www.aloe1.com

    It's unfortunate that Skinfood's label is t90% in Korean characters :( i'm not quite sure of the entire ingredients this specic bb has but if you're pregnant, stay away from anything with parabens.
