Revlon Colorstay Oil-Free Foundation with Softlex is among the high-rating liquid face base that offers an impressive coverage for those who have an oily and blemished skin like mine. What hooked me with it is its being affordable than MAC while giving a coverage at par, and perhaps even better than MAC's Studio Fix liquid foundation.

What I love about it:
- long-wearing (MAC SF lasts a good 5-6hours on my acidic skin; Revlon, 9-12 hours!)
- buildable coverage (medium to heavy)
- photographs well (minus the non-diffused flash)
- transfer-resistant (MAC SF, for my skin, sadly, isn't)
- affordable and locally available
- among the few drugstore brands that offer the best skintone & undertone shades
Uh-ohs:
- the scent! feels like you're stuffing your face with too many harsh chemicals!
- oxidizes on acidic skin (so I got myself a shade lighter)
- SPF 15 content can be a con because of the whitecast it can create when using cameras without a diffused flash system
- may be difficult to blend with a brush (hello sponge and fingertips!)
- it stains brushes big time!
- difficult to remove (I do 3 rounds of cleansing using Pond's cold cream to completely take the makeup off)
- not lightweight
The biggest con that made me give this Revlon foundation bottle up is that it made my face red, patchy and ugly after taking it off! This is such a huge disappointment because I rarely come across liquid foundations that suck up the oil for long hours while giving a flawless coverage.
Revlon Colorstay Oil-Free foundation is such a keeper if it didn't act up on my skin. This bottle isn't just a hype... it works! I gave it several chances (well, it deserved it) and it just kept giving me ugly skin after taking off a very pretty mask.

ReplyDeleteI actually love this foundation and I find it way better than my Mac fix fluid. It gives my face the coverage that I want without looking cakey.
Oh yes B, exactly why I love this foundation --- waaay better than MAC's famous Studio fix fluid!
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't clog my pores i think since I'm not having new pimples or something like it, but it just leaves my skin red and patchy afterwards and so i had to let go (with a heavy heart).

ReplyDeletePammy, EL double wear is love. i hope that it lasts long, though... you know my skin, it oddly acts up with certain skin care ive already considered HG after several months.
ReplyDeleteYour skin probablyl reacts or get used to a certain product especially if you've been using on a certain amount of time, hay sensitive skin talaga!

i love the staying power of this foundation and how flawless my face looked, but after taking it off I've noticed that my skin felt dry/dehydrated =( di kasi gaanong oily skin ko in the first place.
ReplyDeleteI didnt like this one, mainly because of smell and it dried to fast on skin that I had trouble blending it in. But I like the one for Dry/normal skin, it has much better texture and doesnt look so flat on face like this one does.

i love this!! good thing i don't get red blothcy rashes after. this is the best afordable foundation I'm using lately. I took a shower and forgot I had foundation on, I saw droplets skidding off my face.. it's so damn water-resistant, this one.
ReplyDeletebtw, i'm super sensitive to. What I do is apply clinique moisture surge to my skin whenever I feel an on set of my allergies taking over. effective siya. :)
since its already summer, im now nc35. and medium beige is not the perfect match for me. im a bit hesitant to get this. i cant seem to find the right shade for me. plus im scared to get break outs. i have oily/acne prone skin. boo :(
