How to Get to the Grand Palace

I promised to share how we commuted to Bangkok's famous Grand Palace during my last travel post, so here it is!

  • We got off Saphan Taksin station, sixth station from National Stadium.
Clockwise: Chao Phraya Tourist boat (can you spot where i am? hee! ) | Walkway to ticketing booth | Walkway from Saphan Taksin's Exit 2. (you may click to enlarge)
  • Got off at Maharaj Pier

  • We could've taken a tuktuk to the Grand Palace because of the sweltering heat, but we chose to walk to the Grand Palace from Maharaj Pier. We realized it wasn't too far. We took a right from the pier's premises, finding a very Quiapo-like road (there were tons of novelty stuff being sold!), then turned left at the first intersection and voila, The Grand Palace!
That sums up how we commuted to the Grand Palace via the Chao Phraya Express boat. If only we had more time during our trip, we would've chosen a day-pass (150 baht) to cover more scenic places along the river, including especially the Wat Arun.
