Minerals at the Jane Iredale Makati Showroom

If you ever plan to get your hands on one of the best mineral makeups ever created, the Jane Iredale Makati Showroom will truly impress you. Here are some of the makeup we got our hands on during the event last August:

You will want to take home a bottle of this liquid minerals! It evens out the skintone impressively and provides sheer-to-medium coverage that's so natural. The minerals are suspended in some gel-like substance:

Wasn't that interesting? More to come below:

The huge photo's the dream tint, a tinted moisturizer. Medium is a nice tint for my skintone. Disappear is their concealer while the three spray cans are their facial mists (the gold one does an excellent job of allowing makeup to meld with the skin!).

Their loose mineral powders are called Amazing Base. My perfect match is Golden Glow since these powders barely oxidize on my skin. If you want to be on the safe side and give room for the possibility of oxidation, go for Warm Sienna.

There are tons of other stuff to love at the Jane Iredale Showroom Makati. They have a resident MUA there, Ms. Tess, and she can help you out with the products.

Thanks to my awesome sense of direction, I totally got lost looking for the venue (which was at True Scents and Minerals, Makati) and was laaaate for the event. I missed most parts of it but got just in time for this:

group photo!!!

Despite coming in late, I still went home with tons of pictures:

Krissy's before and after shots

Kira's

Shen's

It was too bad I didn't get these girls' before shot and so I ended up admiring their post-Iredale faces:

Golden goddess Nikki

Reluctant Stylista herself, Alex, and her creamy, flawless face

And Iambrigitte's, Jheng

What else did everyone do that night?

Ms. Tess Chua, resident MUA for Jane Iredale Makati, prettifying Jheng
Shen thinking that this is the volume of makeup I want on my dresser
and me taking their photo :)

Busy bee Krissy and me in our coordinated numbers before trying out the makeup

(2) Jane Iredale Dream Tint in Medium evened out on her face using a foundie brush
(3) & (4) her wonderful second skin+smokey eyes+peachy pink lips

We chatted about losing our phones from the metro's olympic runner snatchers

the counter (i kept ooh-ing and aaah-ing at Kira's flawless face!)

Nikki is just effortlessly pretty in minerals!

get a makeover

Jane Iredale Minerals is definitely for those who want second skin makeup. If you're gaga over minerals, Jane Iredale is definitely worth saving up for. I'm letting the photos above speak for the brand.

Snob It Or Steal It: The Body Shop's Extra Virgin Minerals Line

The Body Shop has come up with a new mineral makeup line, the Extra Virgin Minerals. For the mineral makeup junkies out there, this line definitely deserves your attention and critique.

Photo taken from The Body Shop website

I've read a couple of posts about it and because of the beautiful swatches and FOTD's made by the bloggers (you'll see them below), I'll definitely check this line out at the store.

Steal Factors:

  • flawless and creamy finish
  • extra virgin oil (EVOO) has been highly reviewed as a beauty staple over the years and is favored by majority of skin types, the Extra Virgin Minerals line is basically cold-pressed Italian EVOO
  • website lists 12 awesome shades for each foundation variant

Snob Factors:

  • poor oil-absorbing properties
  • its steep price (1,600+PHP locally)
  • mineral makeup purists will definitely scream at the mob of ingredients the liquid and cream foundations have. Only the Extra Virgin Mineral Powder is a true mineral makeup, ingredients-wise

The Body Shop Extra Virgin Minerals' Liquid Foundation

This liquid mineral foundation is a unique combination of pure minerals and cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil. It provides light to medium, ultra-blendable coverage with a smooth, dewy finish. Key Features: light to medium coverage, dewy finish, ultra-blendable, no added fragrance, paraben free

The Body Shop Extra Virgin Minerals' Compact  Foundation

This cream-to-powder mineral foundation contains pure minerals and cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil for a smooth, matte finish. It has an ultra-blendable formula and contains a custom brush for flawless application. Key Features: medium to full coverage, smooth, matte finish, integrated cruelty-free brush, fragrance-free, paraben-free.

The Body Shop Extra Virgin Minerals' Powder  Foundation

This featherlight powder base gives a radiant, natural-looking finish and can be built up for extra coverage. It is non-comedogenic and suitable for sensitive skin. Key Features: buildable coverage, radiant finish, covers imperfections and fine lines, non-comedogenic, dermatologically tested

Now, let's look at these pretty girls' take on each foundation type:

Shen is so pretty with the Compact Foundation. She raves about the brush that came with it. Read here review HERE:

Katie tests all three bases and was partial to the powder foundation. Read her review HERE

Mag, like Katie, tests all three types of the Extra Virgin Minerals. She loved the compact foundie. Read her review HERE

I love my Oil-Free Foundation but it just sucks up the oil so good it leaves my cheeks a bit dry. The Body Shop's Extra Virgin Mineral line might just work for my extra dry patches on the cheeks and on the sides of the nose. My eyes are set on the compact foundation and mineral powder!

4U2 Glitz Shimmering Brow Mascara

I love how the 4U2 Glitz Shimmer Brow Mascara works wonders for me! I got the dark brown shade (which looked black to me) which suited me just fine.

I initially wanted to get shade 02, which is brown, since I felt it suited my colored hair better. However, it ended up streaking my brow with this weird whitish color at the tips. But it could've been the tester, i'll sure be back to give that prettier shade a second chance!

4U2 Glitz Shimmer Brow Mascara 01 swatch

4U2 Brow Mascara costs a fraction of a MAC browset. It delivers satisfactorily despite the cheap tag (not as marvelous as MAC's, though). This is available in all 4U2 Cosmetics counters in Watson's and SM Department Stores priced at P 234.00.

Will definitely recommend this to those who can't afford a MAC browset and wants to prettify the face further by enhancing the brows. I often use this after using the In2it or ELF Brow Kit to keep my brows in place but on lazy days, I plainly use a dash of the 4U2 brow mascara on my brows to frame my face.

1: Thick application of the Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Liner
2: perfect brows to frame the face (thanks to 4U2 brow mascara)
3: after 2 hours on my oily lids... smokey look na
4: effect of 4U2 brow mascara + maybelline gel liner
5: bare face: before Pure Anada Minerals+4U2+Maybelline
6: don't let the shimmers freak you out; not shimmery at all on the brows
7: brow mascara 6.5g, P234; gel liner, P449

Learning to apply the product properly on the brows for makeup newbs will definitely want them to repurchase. I discourage those who do not plan to use this often as I noticed that this brow mascara dries up in the bottle gradually over time.

I love the 4U2 Glitz Shimmer Brow Mascara to bits. It's cheap, effective and definitely something that can revamp the way your face looks!
