Crimped and Bleached Out: Miley Cyrus for W Magazine

on , ,

Miley Cyrus poses nude and almost unrecognizable for W magazine's March 2014 cover. Her toned body, crimped hair and bleached out brows sure made a statement altogether!

“I just don’t get what half the girls are wearing. Everyone to me seems like Vanna White. I’m trying to tell girls, like, ‘Fuck that. You don’t have to wear makeup. You don’t have to have long blonde hair and big titties. That’s not what it’s about. It’s, like, personal style.’..."

Marnie's Wedding

on ,

Do you still remember Marnie from "Ang TV"? She's not as popular as most of her contemporaries but because I find myself singing to do-wah diddy-diddy dum diddy-do every after school during my younger years, I'm able to put a face to that name.

(Her real name is Marie France Arcilla)

Marnie, or rather, Marie France, currently works as a stage and TV actress in New York. Her most celebrated TV stint to date may be her Gossip Girl appearance as Blair Waldorf's seamstress (she had lines!).

I learned she got married last year. While I usually don't click on nuptial videos of  people outside my circle, I ended up watching Marnie's and felt lucky I did so. Nakakapangarap.
Julien: Nine years ago, on this island, we became a couple. I remember telling you at that time, "If you're ever going to marry somebody, please let it be me."
Marnie: I remember one day when you came up to me to say, "You are so beautiful baby ko, i love you so much" ...but on that particular day, I smiled and turned to look at you and was reminded by the kitchen mirror that i was covered with chicken pox! And that's when i knew i would never find anyone who'll love me the way that you do-- absolutely, unequivocally and unconditionally.
The video is like a long trailer for an extraordinary love story movie:

By posting this, I thought I could share two things with you (and even a third one, too: Marnie's beautiful Pronovias gown) : a video done so beautifully and a partnership that has tied two cultures in genuine love. I hope you take time two watch the 6-minute footage. I promise you it's some few minutes put to good use.

If you love the Neutrogena Ultra-Sheer Dry Touch during these hot, scorching days, you'll definitely be in for some sun care treat with Neutrogena's newest addition to the Hydroboost line --- the Hydroboost Gel SPF30

Neutrogena Hydroboost line

Some few weeks ago, I witnessed the unveiling of three new skincare products from the Neutrogena event: the Hydroboost Gel SPF 30 and two Deep Clean Ultra Foam cleansers.

The event opened with a 4-course dinner which I must say struck me as the best event dinner I've ever had to date. Chef Vincent Rodriguez of Peppermill Caterers, Inc. totally prepped us for a night of wonderful (and delicious!) things.

Mang Vicente on Inquirer

If you haven't picked up the paper today, here's what Inquirer (PDI) has for you: a photo of Mr. Demetrio Vicente on the front page. (Mr. Vicente took the stand as a witness for the defense yesterday to testify that he bought the Coronas' Marikina property)

cropped photo from inquirer.net

I'm so sorry PDI, but I'm not buying Mang Vicente's collaged photos along with your feeling brilliant caption. I looked up to your publication since I was a child but this is already too much. No more Inquirer on my desk starting tomorrow.

The Impeachment Cake Of JPE | Enrile's 88th Birthday

I find Juan Ponce Enrile's birthday cake so cute! The presiding officer for Chief Justice Corona's impeachment trial turns 88 today. Yep, he's a V-Day baby.

I don't know who in particular designed that heartbreaking-to-cut-and-eat replica of the impeachment court, but it is said that this treat was given by Solar News to the celebrating Senator.

Fangirl Mode In A Tech-Savvy Salon

The Blounge is one of the metro's, if not the only, tech-savvy salon. Thanks to their high-speed internet and Ipads, getting pampered while surfing the net for free is no longer a problem!

During my second visit to the salon, I had my hair cut! I loved the result and what made me gush all the more was that one of our local celebs was also there getting her hair styled from curly to straight! Photo-op with model and celebrity talk show host, Phoem Barranda.... eeee, haha.

She was just so sweet to pose with me in the middle of her hair styling, foot spa and eye makeup (which she was doing herself by the way and was using UD's Naked palette). I didn't have time to wait up because I had another appointment and I was so surprised she cheerfully excused herself to accommodate my request for a photo-op. Baet. I can't stop telling my friends and family how down-to-earth she was.

Johnson's Baby Milk Bath Event with Judy Ann Santos

Last July 27 at the EDSA Shangri-la Hotel, I was able to attend the Johnson's Milk Bath event that featured the brand's newest endorser, actress, Judy Ann Santos (FYI international readers, she is an accomplished actress in the Philippines). She graced the event undaunted by the heavy rains and managed to educate us on skincare and even spontaneously entertained everyone with her charming antics.

We laughed with her as she shared her experiences as a mom and wife.

Serious topic: Mommyhood!

We laughed harder during the open forum where people can ask her anything under the sun! She's so bubbly! There was never a dull moment with her around during the event.

Major media networks covered the event.

Judy Ann Santos' colleague in the showbiz industry, Angel Jacob, hosted the event. Would you be surprised to know that she already has a 17-year old? Ahhh, I saw your jaw drop for a bit!

Angel Jacob in a silky, white number

Juday is so down-to-earth. Someone ran after her when she was already cued to exit the stage. Instead of snobbing the girl, who in between breaths managed to catch up and handed her a "gift", she paused to receive the token, talked to her a bit and thanked the young lady (the organizers and bouncers were panicked, I tell you).

So accommodating to those who want to see her!

Different representatives from showbiz-oriented shows flanked her after the talk.

Judy Ann Santos, darling of the press

Juday is an unassuming charmer

Judy Ann's bodyguards tried to clear the area after the reporters were done with their respective interviews. Ang sungit nung isang bodyguard big time sa mga bloggers! If not for Judy Ann herself and her kind PA (i think) who broke the rules and accommodated more chit-chats and photo ops, I would not have gone home with her autograph on my brother's wedding picture (the brother and my sis-in-law are HUGE fans!).

I was planning to bring their bigger portrait kaso nakakahiya
I brought home a lot of newly learned skincare tips and future lessons on mommyhood that I'll be sharing with you soon. And I'm definitely keeping that marker "sacred" since Judy Ann Santos, big star yet super humble, was able to touch that very pen.

Neutrogena Event at Momo Cafe

If you missed my information-studded post about skin dehydration, you might be unaware that I learned a lot of helpful stuff about skincare last week. It was during the Neutrogena event last May 23, 2011 at Momo Cafe, Ayala Gardens that I was able to enjoy co-bloggers' fun company while educating ourselves with the things that can stop us from having a radiant, supple and youthful-looking skin.

Here are the photos I took during the event:

Czar Carbonel, from Ogilvy, the young lady in that colorful checkered polo --- she's so fun to talk to!
Seated on the table are (clockwise): K of whenchichitsthepan, Lauren of iambourgeois, 2 ladies seated near the cafe's walls whom i unfortunately never got the chance to talk to, and there's Donna and Julia

The folks I'm seated with are Ms. thirstythought herself, Kryz, and there's Vince Ong, an intern at stylebible.ph
The guys standing up are among the pillars of the event, Gwen and Gabby

Foodie
Ah, foodies! Loved the tall glass of peach drink.

And since I didn't have the guts to ask any of my new acquaintances to shoot a photo of me, the BF and I camwhored at Bonchon Chicken (which was a coffee shop away from Momo Cafe) after the event!

The Neutrogena event was such a fun evening! The people I mingled with were so cool and awesome, I barely remembered I was there for a cause! Neutrogena will unveil a new line of products soon and my co-bloggers and I can't wait for that big revelation. Well what d'you know ---- that's TOMORROW! :)

Catching Up With the Gang at Crisostomo

Happy Sunday everyone! I'm sharing one of my fondest moments during the first quarter of 2011... hanging out with my college classmates in PT at Crisostomo Restaurant!

We loved how we sort of had the place to ourselves --- well at least that area immediately outside the resto since we had friends who smoked their guts out.

My PT classmates @ Crisostomo Restaurant in Libis, QC, Jan 2011

Some of the food we ordered

The interior and lighting were posh enough to exude an inviting ambiance for couples or groups of friends. It could, however, ward off potential Crisostomo customers who may conclude that the food may be priced sky-high.

We opted for Filipino food because of our balikbayan classmates. They've been in the U.S. for quite some time and are dying to gobble up as much Filipino food as they can. The resto's menu was packed with amusing dish names, reminiscent of Noli and El Fili, that kept us entertained (Adobo Damaso kept us roaring with laughter! Care to take a bite off Padre Damaso's fats?)

Ensaladang Erehe (leafy veggies w/ tomatoes,
chopped green mangoes, onions and shrimp paste)

Adobo Rice

A party of Pinoy sauces (drooling over bagoong/shrimp paste)

A big platter of grilled stuff --- stuffed squid, milkfish belly,
and some other fish I can't name + chicken and pork bbq

Overall, the food was okay but I wouldn't spend that much on something that my mom can cook as good at home. Service was good, but not exemplary (perhaps because we ate outside?). It's more for balikbayans, and if you want to impress foreigner friends.

Crisostomo is a fine resto to go to but there are other Filipino restos that offer fairly-priced Pinoy dishes you can enjoy!

Laughtrip Post: Totallylookslike 2

Are you feeling sad and depressed these days? How about a new set of totallylookslike.com photos to liven you up?

My favorite. I have no idea who the French guy is but he looks like he can keep a rat above his head, too.

Apart from the physical similarities, was the happy Llama able to assimilate the Dalai Lama's wisdom, too?

I find Susan Sarandon beautiful. This wigged dog added some spice to my definition of her beauty, though.

Separated at birth:

Among the bunch of Bieber look-alikes, this was the only one that impressed me (why, even Manny Pacquiao looks Bieberized!).

I love Lisa Kudrow when she sings 'Smelly Cat' in Friends. I wonder if the Argentinian actress would like to get the lyrics and strum the guitar one day...

Physics brainiac Hawking is photgraphed still able to stand up here (although he was already using a cane at this time), while Artie sits on a wheelchair. After Glee, Artie leaves the wheelchair, while Hawking, at present, is strapped to his electronic wheelchair suffering from the debilitating conditions of ALS.

Forgive me, RPatz fans. Let the 3rd row of photos blow you away!

It's almost been 2 years since my last totallylookslike laughtrip post. The bf and I still get a good laugh up till now from that first list I posted. Coming up with part 2 was a bit more difficult since the site's list grew unbelievable longer. I noticed though that it seemed harder to find entries that were really funny. I hope that these chosen ones that made the cut made you laugh... one way or another.
